According to USGS up to 60% fo the human adult body is water. By breathing alone we continuously loose water. According to an article in Pneumonol Alergol Pol. 2012;80(4):339-342, hotter temperatures (35C/75% humidity) we breath out about 7 ml/hr in comparison to colder environment (-10C/25% humidity) where we breath out incresed amound of water at about 20 ml/hr. The rate of water loss increases four times more between 60-70 ml/hr with excercise. Water is essential for digestion, manufacturer of hormones and neurotransmitters in your brain, regulating your body temperature, acting as a shock absorber for brain and spinar cord, helps to deliver oxygen throughout your body, lubricates joints, flushes body waste and is the major component of most body parts. So armed with this knowledge, why would you have a cup of coffee (a known diuretic) first thing in the morning to further dehydrate yourself instead of a good glass of water?
