Can you self help yourself with anxiety. I believe you can gain a lot of knowledge from various sources and intellectually understand the causes and solutions to stress and anxiety. But knowledge alone is potentially a good dinner conversation topic at best. I found through my own journey that going through relevant exercises with a knowledgeable and caring professional who holds you accountable is the best recipe for successfully overcoming anxiety once and for all. Patient beware, not all professionals are created equal. Search extensively and chose wisely.
